About BettingInKY
An independent, Kentucky-focused sports betting resource. We exist to help legal-age Kentucky bettors choose between licensed operators, understand their rights and tax obligations, and bet responsibly. We do not take wagers and we are not affiliated with any sportsbook.
Why This Site Exists
Kentucky legalized online sports betting on September 28, 2023. Within months, dozens of websites launched targeting Kentucky bettors. Most are generic templates with the state name swapped in, no Kentucky-specific knowledge, no understanding of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, no familiarity with what it means to drive from Lexington to Henderson to bet on-track at Sandy\'s Racing & Gaming. We built BettingInKY because Kentucky bettors deserve a resource that is actually from Kentucky and writes for Kentucky.
Our coverage spans every licensed Kentucky online sportsbook, every major sport, the full Kentucky-anchored horse racing calendar (Derby Week, the Belmont Stakes, and the Breeders\' Cup when it returns to Keeneland), and the legal framework that governs all of it. The site is free to use; we do not gate content behind subscriptions. We make money when you sign up for a sportsbook through one of our links, which means our incentive is to point you toward operators that actually fit your needs, since those are the signups that lead to retained users.
Six Things You Can Hold Us To
Independence
BettingInKY is an independent informational resource. We are not owned by or operated by any licensed Kentucky sportsbook. Our reviews are not influenced by commercial relationships; affiliate revenue does not change how we rank operators or what we say about them.
Kentucky-First
Every page on this site is written for someone betting from Kentucky. Tax rates, retail partners, age requirements, helpline numbers, and team angles (Bengals, Reds, Wildcats, Cardinals) are all KY-specific. We do not recycle generic content from other states.
Source Discipline
Every factual claim about laws, operators, results, or statistics is traceable to a primary source. Race results are verified across multiple mainstream outlets before publishing. Operator details come from the operators themselves and the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission.
Responsible Gambling
We treat sports betting as entertainment with real financial risk. Every page links to responsible gambling resources, the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline, and Kentucky-specific support via KYCPG.org. We do not encourage chasing losses, betting beyond your means, or any pattern that resembles problem gambling.
Transparency on Affiliate Links
When you click a sportsbook signup link on this site and create an account, we may receive an affiliate commission from that operator. This does not increase your cost, change your bonus, or affect your account. It does fund the site. Our review rankings are based on app quality, market depth, customer support, and Kentucky-specific factors, not commission size.
Updates and Corrections
Every page shows a "Last updated" date so you can see how fresh the content is. When we make a factual correction, we update the page and refresh that date. If you spot an error, write us via the contact info below; verified corrections ship within 48 hours.

Who Writes BettingInKY
The BettingInKY Editorial Team
BettingInKY is produced by a small editorial team focused exclusively on Kentucky sports betting coverage. Our team combines experience in sports journalism, regulated gambling operations, and horse racing handicapping. We collectively follow the Kentucky sports betting market daily, attend major events at Churchill Downs and Keeneland in person, and maintain working relationships with all licensed Kentucky operators for fact-verification purposes (though never for commercial influence over our coverage).
Specific operator reviews, sport-betting guides, and race coverage are written by team members with relevant subject expertise (a horse racing handicapper writes our Derby coverage; an NFL bettor writes our NFL pages). Every published piece is fact-checked by at least one second team member before publishing.
